The Value of Seeing Homes in Person

Most home buyers start their buying process by looking online. The amount of information and visuals online nowadays is fantastic. By researching online you can develop a strong base of knowledge about your potential neighbourhood, and home options. When we list a home we want the most pertinent information and enticing visuals to be easily found online.

Here’s the rub. We, along with other listing agents, try to present the best version of the home online. Sometimes – the online version can virtually over promise and under deliver in real life.

To get a proper understanding of what your budget will deliver, it’s really important to see properties in person. Even if it’s early on in your search – the online version – really isn’t a substitute for the real thing. Your senses and gut reaction can tell you a lot about a home. Similar can be said about your reaction to a neighbourhood. Pictures and text don’t provide the same experience. Consider that some homes smell like cigarette smoke or cat urine! If you are thinking about buying – take the time to visit open houses, or call a trusted agent (hopefully us) to schedule showings. A good agent should be okay with taking the time to see houses – even when it’s early in the process. Combine the excellent resources available online with the real deal experience.

As always we appreciate your referrals to friends and family. We are always eager to chat real estate.
